Broken Beach, also known as Pasih Uug by locals, is located in Bunga Mekar Village, Nusa Penida Islands. The name of this beach comes from the large hole formed by a landslide, which creates a stunning view and is often used as a photo and movie shooting location. This place is the destination of many foreign and domestic tourists who want to enjoy its natural beauty and capture moments with this unique beach in the background. Location Broken Beach

The location of Broken Beach, or better known as Pasih Uug by the locals, is located on the Nusa Penida island, precisely in Bunga Mekar Village. To reach the place, you can use land transportation such as a car or motorbike. However, you should avoid renting a motorcycle at the harbor because the road to the beach is very extreme, with many ups and downs. Broken Beach tourist attraction is adjacent to Angel Billabong, only about 15 minutes’ walk from Angel Billabong to Broken Beach. History Broken Beach

Broken Beach has an interesting history, as told by the locals. The story begins when a large snake entered their village, causing panic and threats for fear that it would hurt the locals. Therefore, the villagers gathered to confront the snake, cut it up, and divide the meat among the villagers. However, in the afternoon, an old man came to the village in dirty clothes and found out what had happened. He gave them a message not to kill the snake.

In an effort to prevent carelessness and a similar incident from happening again, the grandfather advised the villagers to stop killing and dismembering snakes. However, the Banjar residents did not accept the advice and instead responded with anger and rejected the grandfather’s allegations. To prove the truth of the matter, the grandfather’s friend took a coconut leaf stick and stuck it into the ground. The grandfather then issued a challenge to the villagers, saying that whoever could pull out the stick would recognize their honesty.

After this explanation, the villagers competed to pull the stick out of the ground, but no one succeeded until the last villager tried. This proved that no one had been truthful about the previous event, that is, they had not told him the truth that they had killed a large snake this afternoon. The old man then showed the truth by pulling out the stick that he himself had stuck in. A shocking event occurred when water rushed from the place where the stick was stuck, causing confusion among the people of the banjar.

The seawater around Pasih Uug became ferocious, engulfing the beach and hitting the land with considerable force, causing the collapse of parts of the land and their surrounding houses. After the event, the old man who warned about the incident disappeared, along with the rest of the people and their village. No one survived the incident, except for a few residents who were out of the area at the time.
