History Name Atuh Beach

Around Atuh Beach, there is a temple known as Atuh Temple. This temple is often visited by Hindus from Pejukutan Village and Tanglad Village, especially during traditional ceremonies. On the west side of the temple, there are two springs that are still used by the community. One of the springs is considered sacred because it is used specifically for traditional ceremonies, while the other is used by the surrounding population for daily purposes. According to a story told by the Head of Pelilit Hamlet, I Wayan Satu Nusantara, the origin of these two springs has an interesting story. During the dry season, a villager saw someone drinking water under a coconut tree. In the evening, the villagers received instructions to make a spring in that place, and it turned out that there was a water source under the tree. Despite being close to the beach, the water from this spring remains fresh, and more uniquely, it never dries up despite the dry season. That is why the beach is named Atuh Beach, derived from the word’s “A”, which means ‘not’ and “Tuh”, which means ‘dry’, illustrating that the water there never dries up.

The Uniqueness Atuh Beach

Atuh Beach is located under a cliff with coral cliffs on its right and left, giving the impression of a very hidden beach. Being flanked by these two cliffs adds to the uniqueness of Atuh Beach. Although it is located under a cliff and the access to the beach is quite tiring, the facilities are now very good. There are stairs that make it easy to get down to the beach, although it still requires extra effort.
